Best Anti-Aging Treatments and Products for 30s

Woman in 30s with glowing and radiant skin

Major concerns for people in our 30’s. Do you like how I said “our 30’s”? I’m right with you friends! These are starting to concern me too. I remember looking at a video of me and my little one not too long ago and I thought to myself “what happened to my skin all of a sudden?” So there began the journey for me to try to find NATURAL, HOLISTIC, and EFFECTIVE anti-aging products. What are the Best Anti-Aging Treatments and Products for 30s? And you know what? It’s not that easy to figure it out. Most of the active ingredients in easily obtained skincare products and anti-aging creams are so extremely toxic.

Toxins

Let’s talk about toxins for a second. See this article for more information. What it states is that on average a woman uses 13 personal care products every day that contain 114 unique chemical ingredients (and this is actually a reduction since 2004)!

This is just an incredible amount of exposure to chemicals because we are getting exposure through so many other sources like laundry detergent, household cleaners, candles, perfumes, etc. Also things that are outside of our control like pesticides, pollution, chemtrails, and the like.

Toxins cause stress on our physiology. It’s that simple. The more we can reduce toxic exposure the more we can reduce the overall workload on our bodies. That’s important because women in our 30’s have so much stress to deal with don’t we? We have businesses, babies, spouses, parents, friends, anxiety, health problems, financial concerns, and the list could go on and on and on.

Stress

One of my closest friends and co-writer of this blog gave the best analogy for this stress process. She said that you can think of each stressor as a drop of water in a glass. One drop a time doesn’t seem so monumental and in fact you may not even notice it for years and years but, at some point the glass will fill up and then one drop will cause it to overflow. That’s when your body will demand attention by expressing a symptom somewhere.

You may be there and you may not. If you’re not so stressed and are managing things well…read on! If you are so stressed and need some help…read on! I’m all about the big picture and about being as healthy as possible but I want to do everything I can to look great as well. By finding a way to look great WHILE reducing chemical stress on the body, we can take away some or all of those 114 drops of water into our stress cup and save them for something we can’t avoid.

Major SKIN concerns for people in our 30’s

These are some common concerns that may have been coming up for you in recent years.

  • Appearance of wrinkles

Popular ingredients (the good, bad, & ugly)

Let’s discuss a number of popular ingredients that may be considered in our list of Best Anti-Aging Treatments and Products for 30s. This way we can make educated choices about what we use.

Hyaluronic acid

Just like with most things, our body loses the quantity of hyaluronic acid as we get older. This is a natural substance that you find in your body but can be lost more quickly with pollution, chemicals, and smoking. What’s so great about it? It helps maintain moisture in the skin.

If you’re like me (30’s) you may kinda roll your eyes on this one but it’s actually pretty neat. According to Dr. Marchbein, dermatologist, “hyaluronic acid attracts and binds to water molecules and increases the water content of the skin”. She also goes on to say that it can absorb more than 1,000 times its weight in water. That’s significant!

The more moisture you have in your skin, the more shallow your wrinkles will be and the less crepe-ish your skin will look. It will also significantly improve the appearance of fine lines. Also, just from a holistic perspective, it helps the overall health of your skin by creating a healthy barrier to the environment.

This is a pretty good serum if you would prefer to apply this to your skin and not take a supplement.

Check this out: It has Vitamin C, Collagen, AND Hyaluronic Acid!! Sign me UP! LOL!

Vitamin E

This particular nutrient is beneficial for aging skin but using the inside-out philosophy. Actually vitamin C, vitamin E, and selenium (all amazing skin health nutrients) are poorly absorbed through the skin. Buying serums or creams with these aren’t as effective as actually consuming them internally.

Vitamin E is such an awesome substance because it gives you double benefits. You get age fighting effects as well as overall health benefits because it decreases the amount of damaging free radicals in your body. Since free radicals can lead to cancer…I think this is a phenomenal ingredient to consume. You will look good and have better health at the same time! Talk about a stress reducer!

I’ve used this product personally and with patients for years and years! It’s affordable, easy to get, and high potency. That’s why I love it.

Growth factors

So, these are proteins that help keep your skin healthy. See this article for more information but here is an excerpt “Growth factors are produced and secreted by skin cells such as fibroblasts, keratinocytes, and melanocytes. One type of these growth factors is cytokines, which are involved in regulating the immune system and repairing the skin.”

I’ve never personally used these products but the ones I have researched seem to be fairly expensive ($300 range) and also have chemicals in the ingredients. It’s my belief that we all have enough chemical exposure in our everyday lives so I try to avoid adding to it voluntarily. I’ve also seen that some offices offer this with a microneedling procedure which is a little more invasive than necessary to get a youthful appearance. You can also see the use of these factors in platelet-rich plasma which I will discuss below.

I think you can increase the production of collagen and repair the skin with other ingredients for less money and more ease with other ingredients.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is so similar to vitamin E in the way that it behaves. See the Vitamin E section above to understand the mechanisms a little better.

Vitamin C is very abundant in the skin and therefore can receive the most punishment from the sun. Finding a vitamin C serum that can withstand the exposure to oxygen is a very difficult thing to do.

Taking it in supplement form or through your diet will give you much more bang for your buck. Using the nutrient in a whole food form is much more stable and well received by the body. See the ingredient list on these 2 products to see how you can get natural and effective use of many nutrients.

Glycolic acid

Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that is made from sugar cane. You can find it in citrus fruits, grapes, and kiwi.

It is mainly used as a chemical exfoliant. It can penetrate deeply into the skin since it is such a small molecule. Once it gets through the barrier of the skin it breaks down the “glue” that holds your dead skin cells together which makes exfoliation possible. Make sure to avoid scrubs for exfoliation if you use this ingredient since it can cause sensitivity. Also, there are better products on the market for people that have sensitive skin and want to achieve the same results.

I think that using a natural scrub is a better plan than using this ingredient because some of the side effects are dryness, swelling, burning, itching, redness, dryness, and an increased sensitivity to sunlight. If you are wanting to try it, just make sure to start with low doses and work your way up to avoid some of these issues.

Benzoyl peroxide

Ok so…this particular ingredient is found in products that are used to treat acne. If you are struggling with acne I recommend going back to the DIY zone to get the best results. Killing germs is the basis of the treatment but we don’t want to deal with any negative side effects. Here’s my clinical recommendation for acne.

  • Squirt your face entirely with colloidal silver and let air dry.
  • Follow with a mixture of coconut oil (has amazing antimicrobial benefits) and zinc all over the affected areas.
  • Take 25,000 IU of Vitamin A (with a fatty food) and 50 mg of zinc daily. *Please use the type of zinc noted in the link and take WITH FOOD to avoid nausea.

Make this part of your skin care routine until you have addressed your current skin concerns with acne. This works like a charm! Let me know how you like it.

Aloe vera

I bet we’ve all used this product after a little too much sun exposure. LOL. It’s great for healing after a sunburn but does it have a place in your anti-aging treatment?

Well, probably not as a stand alone. While it can keep you from getting more wrinkles it doesn’t do a stellar job at reversing the signs of our years of experience I will call them.

Salicylic acid

This ingredient is another exfoliant. You will see it in chemical peels in the next section and it is also similar to the idea you are going for with glycolic acid. Instead of using a scrub for exfoliation you will use this for that purpose.

I definitely think that the TruEnergy scrub is much less irritating and doesn’t have nearly the same potential for negative side effects. It features…

  • Natural Beta Hydroxy Acids
  • Active Antioxidants
  • Deep-Cleansing Jojoba Beads
  • Penetrating Botanicals

…to get the job done. The good news is that it is also a very gentle cleanser for a scrub and I use it almost every day instead of once a week.

Popular Anti-Aging Treatments (the good, bad, & ugly)

Platelet rich plasma

This is an interesting way to fight against oxidative stress and get more healthy skin. This is a procedure where a provider will take your blood and convert it into concentrated plasma. This plasma has over 1,000 different substances that can help with a variety of different problems including aging. Click here  to see the full study from PubMed but here’s an excerpt about what’s contained in plasma “Platelet-derived growth factor, transformation growth factor, insulin-like growth factor, epidermal growth factor, fibroblast growth factor and vascular endothelial growth factor have well established roles in angiogenesis, cell migration, cell proliferation and collagen deposition”.

If you are looking for a more aggressive but non-toxic treatment for your signs of aging, this seems like a winner. The patient’s that undergo this treatment have experienced decreased brown spots, smaller pores, increased collagen production, wrinkle reduction, and overall better skin texture.

Since the key ingredients in this treatment come from your own body, this may be the best treatment to fight against the natural aging process.

Chemical peels

The big picture with this procedure is that the goal is to create a wound that will heal and replace your damaged skin with new healthier skin. In order to do this, you will have a series of solutions that include salicylic acid, lactic acid, glycolic acid, and trichloroacetic acid applied to your skin. This is a painful procedure that causes a burning sensation and you may need some type of pain medication.

If you are new to my blog, you may not know this but I try to help my audience avoid stress and anything that causes stress. Chemicals and pain are both causes of stress so I would go with something more natural and less pain provoking although the results are very nice I will admit.

Dermal fillers with a board-certified dermatologist

Fillers…fillers…fillers. First of all, they give you a boost in your facial structure that is lost as your bones and skin get less thick over time. I understand this philosophy and I think this is difficult to achieve naturally but it can be done. If you would like to learn how, please see this life changing device! LINK TO WAND

I think that this is pretty painful and definitely not natural so therefore I would put this treatment off for maybe one or two more decades. Haha! Actually, I would try to avoid this altogether and just get great results doing other treatments.

Laser treatments

Laser skin resurfacing has the same philosophy as the chemical peels which is to kill the top layer of the skin off and have new beautiful skin replace it. This is a better option in my opinion as a holistic practitioner because of the lack of chemical ingredients.

You will still have to factor in recovery time and pain though. You can see some real skin changes with this treatment because of the skin cell turnover but again…I think there are better options but they do require more consistency.

Botox injections

This is arguably one of the most popular treatments for wrinkles regardless of your skin type. The ingredient is a toxin that paralyzes muscles and is used for all types of health conditions these days. By paralyzing the muscles that cause you to make facial expressions this decreases the look of deep wrinkles on your face.

A great dermatologist will use a combination of filler and botox to get the face to look and function differently and this will result in younger-looking skin.

So it’s probably obvious what I don’t like about this right? It’s a paralytic toxin which I don’t think is good for overall wellness. I think that there are skin care products with NO negative side effects that deliver super power even to a specific area that you may be concerned about.

So now that we’ve discussed a LOT of options, let’s get on to the meat of the topic which is the best anti-aging treatments and products for 30s.

Products I Recommend

After a deep dive through a bunch of resources and a lot of my personal natural and holistic practitioner friends I have finally found something that I feel confident recommending.

I’ve personally been using (sometimes inconsistently I admit) Tru Energy products for about 2 years and honestly they feel like “normal” products. I’ve tried other natural brands and they either feel or smell kinda weird (if you know, you know).

Now, if you are new to natural products and the holistic paradigm, I would recommend starting with the big set that TruEnergy offers. If you get the this, it comes with an energy wand and a video tutorial where the founder of the brand teaches you how to do lymphatic drainage and lift and sculpt your muscles and skin from the base of the neck up to the hair line. This comes with the best anti-aging cream (that can also be used as a neck cream).

I LOVE the holistic perspective

It isn’t just about slapping products on your face and then moving on and hoping for the best. Real results come when you understand the whole mechanism and that is what you get with this system.

If you’ve seen my other posts you know that I also love the fascia blaster tools. This company also offers facial rejuvenation tutorials and tools

The idea with the tools added to the products is to remodel the fascia and increase the collagen production in your skin.  We all know collagen is amazing for skin health and beyond. Working with the tools as well as taking a high quality collagen supplement will set you worlds a part from the norm in your journey towards looking better.

Get my free e-book on stress reduction by subscribing to my list and now you’ll be in the stratosphere! Stress reduction could be considered the most important step in your best skincare routine to change your skin’s appearance. Have you ever wondered why you might look different some days even though you follow the exact same steps…using the same cleanser, makeup, cute clothes, etc? It’s an energy thing. If you are happy and joyful inside, it radiates and shows up in your appearance.

Muscles

See this related post to help with tight neck muscles and stress.

Basically the premise is…your muscles and bone tissue are the underlying structures for your skin. If you’ve ever paid attention you can see that most people have terrible posture so the front of their chest and neck is super tight. This creates a cascade effect on the look of the skin over your face.

What happens over time is that everything starts getting pulled DOWN! Starting with the upper chest (pecs) and above your collar bones (scalenes). This will keep pulling down into your lower jaw and into your facial muscles.

Getting into a routine treatment to address this will give you massive results!

Conclusion

By addressing the real causes of aging, whether it be with the muscles, fascia, antioxidants, nutrition, or stress you will be a lot younger looking and feeling.

Take your stress management seriously and your body and skin will thank you for it.

You are WELL on your way to addressing those early signs of aging and taking great care of your skin and your body as a whole. I’m so proud of you! Keep up the great work and let me know what you think about the Best Anti-Aging Treatments and Products for 30s. Did you learn something new?
